Delicious guinness beef stew recipe.

I always think of different ways to enjoy my everyday meals . I know cooking beef in beer esp. dark beer brings out a deep rich flavor. So I decided to try this out. 1 st time I did put a lot of guinness turned out bitter but the second time, with the right amount of beer ,it was delicious . Just like all beef stews, the leftover is more delicious . For that reason this is a meal that can be prepared a day before.

When I presented this new meal to my friends and fiancé the 1 St question was , will I get drunk or feel the effects of alcohol? So in case here’s you are thinking the same ,my answer is NO . Alcohol evaporates when cooked, all that remains is the rich flavor .

INGREDIENTS.

1 kg beef chuck

1 1/4 cup guinness beer

1 large red onion chopped

1 green bell pepper chopped

1 teaspoon turmeric

1 teaspoon sugar

2 tablespoon tomato paste

5 cloves of garlic crushed

2 cups beef broth

1/3 Cup all purpose flour

2 tablespoons oil

Salt and pepper to taste .

METHOD.

Cut the beef ,sprinkle some salt ,pepper and coat with flour . Heat the cooking oil in a pot , on medium low heat .

working in batches, shake off excess flour on the beef , put in pot and brown all sides .

Transfer the beef to a plate and repeat untill all beef is browned.

On the same pot ,add oil if necessary ,add the onion fry them until translucent, add garlic cook for a minute or two ,add the tomato paste , turmeric ,and sugar let it cook about 1 minute if too thick you can add few tablespoons of beef broth or water. Add the peppers or vegetables and cook for about 3 minutes .

Add the beef ,cook for 2 minutes then add the guinness and cook on high heat to bring boil, cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently and deglazing the bottom of the pot. Add the beef broth and cover.

In low heat , simmer for 2 hours stirring occasionally. Add salt and pepper to taste .  Remove from heat once everything is tender and thick.

Serve with some bread, rice or chapati . This stew is even better the next day.
